Positive Cases
There have been an increase in positive cases in the local area including school. As of today, we have 7 cases in school - although there is no evidence of in-school transmission . With all restrictions now removed nationally and testing being reduced from next week, it is important that we continue to remain vigilant. Therefore, if your child shows any cold like symptoms, we recommend keeping them off. If your child tests positive, then your child should isolate for 10 days, if they are negative on day 5 and 6, they can return to school. Covid has not disappeared and for the sake of everyone and for the continuation of face to face learning, please continue to be careful. Many thanks for your support in this matter.
Staffing News
Miss Russell
Our new nursery teacher will be in school next week. She will be discussing handover with Mrs Williams. She will also have the opportunity to meet the children and the parents. Please pop over and say hello and welcome her to the Winshill Village community. She will start, as class teacher, after the Easter break.
Miss Goodson
After an incredible 5 years, I will be leaving Winshill Village Primary and Nursery School at the end of this school year (August 2022), to move onto pastures new. I will wax lyrical about my time at Winshill later in the year, just before I leave, but for now it will business as usual from me.
In the meantime, JTMAT and the governors will be starting the recruitment process on Monday, looking for a new headteacher to start in September. I will be working closely with them to ensure a smooth handover and I will of course, keep you up to date with any developments.
Mr Anderson, Chair of Governors, is involved in the recruitment process, and has written a letter to the potential headteachers. I think it summarises our amazing journey over the last five years beautifully. Please see Mr Anderson’s letter below.
Dear potential Head Teacher,
On behalf of our children, staff and governors I would like to welcome you to Winshill Village Primary and Nursery School. Thank you for your interest in becoming our new Head Teacher!
The ethos of our school is caring, positive, and inclusive. The successful candidate will lead an exceptional staff who work diligently to promote the wellbeing and progress of every child.
Over the last five years, despite the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, our school has been on a journey of profound transformation. We have high expectations of our children as we aspire every day to live up to our school motto of ‘Learning Without Limits’. We are not the same school that was visited by Ofsted in our last inspection in 2017. While, at the time of writing, we still await Ofsted confirmation of that transformation, anyone visiting us today finds a school in which the children are happy and love learning, where they care for one another, and where they make excellent academic and personal progress under the guidance of a fabulous staff team. Our school is oversubscribed for Reception admissions in September 2022, and this is testament to our strong local reputation.
Winshill Village sits in extensive grounds at the heart of our community. Our site includes a modern, dedicated nursery building, multi-use games area (MUGA) and large playing fields. We are a proud member of John Taylor Multi-Academy Trust (JTMAT), and work in partnership with other Trust schools and MAT Leadership to support ongoing improvements in teaching, learning and pastoral care. Our governing body is supportive yet challenging, and includes members from diverse professional backgrounds.
We are looking for a positive, caring, knowledgeable Head Teacher to lead us in building further on the great progress we have made in recent years. If you are interested in leading our wonderful school, we encourage you to visit for yourself. Please contact the school office on 01283 247570 or win-office@win.jtmat.co.uk to arrange for a visit. We encourage you also to explore our school website at winshillvillage.org.uk, where you will get a real sense of the life, ethos and positive energy of our school community. If I were to highlight one single page on the site that tells you what we are all about, it would be winshillvillage.org.uk/covid19-journey, which describes the support provided to our children and families during the first Covid Lockdown in 2020.
Thank you again for your interest in joining us. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask, and we hope to meet you very soon.
Yours faithfully,
Richard Anderson
Chair of Governors, Winshill Village Primary and Nursery School
Stay well, stay safe. And let’s all stay kind.
