Reception home Wednesday 3rd February 2021

Hey everyone! Well done to everyone who is working hard at home. I understand it is very different to being at home but you are doing so well.

This week is Children's Mental Health Week. The theme this year is Express Yourself. Expressing yourself is about finding ways to share feelings, thoughts, or ideas, through creativity. This could be through art, music, writing and poetry, dance and drama, photography and film, and doing activities that make you feel good. In our blog this week, you will find some activities to support your mental health and wellbeing that allow you to express yourself. I hope you enjoy these activities - remember to send in any pictures so I can see what you have been doing and share them in our class gallery.

Well being:

Phonics:

  • Sing the alphabet song, then play a game of I spy using the letter names.

  • Join in with the tricky word song and listen out for any new words.

  • Play the song again and copy down the tricky words.

  • Read the sentence with the tricky word her, then write a sentence.

Literacy:

  • Write speech bubbles for what the pigs or the wolf say in the 3 little pigs story.

Maths:

Here is our Maths Key Vocabulary Glossary for Reception. This can also be found on our Class Page under the Maths Heading. The glossary will outline the key vocabulary we use in our year group as well as providing a definition and example for each

  • Draw 2 simple pigs and cut them out. Share plates of 2,4,6,8,10 and 12 items of food between the 2 pigs. How many do they each have? How can you write your learning down? You could record it like this. Here is a blank one to print or copy.

  • Wednesday’s maths lesson with Oak National Academy.

Topic: The three little pigs.

  • Paint a picture of a pig or wolf face (or whole body). Mix colours together to get the shade of pink or grey you want to use.

  • Make your own pigs using pegs, pipe cleaners and card.

Physical development:

ICT:

Story:

  • The true story of the 3 little pigs. (Watch it if you dare!)
